||Start by looking into the 'Hall of the Mountain King' (Nethermost Cove), then head across the flats to start your climb to Boredale Hause. On reaching this you pass the site of an old chapel (now a ruin) and descend steeply into Boredale; this is a hidden gem flanked on either side by Beda Fell and Place Fell. Head down the valley, pick up the road and keep right to arrive at St Peter's Church, built in 1880 (if you have time, its worth popping up the valley to visit the original built in 1220, with a 1300-year-old yew tree in the grounds).Take the track on the north-east side of Hallin Fell or make a quick trip to the summit for the best views of the round. Descend and then, keeping Hallin Fell on your left, run great trails until you journey back up the shores of Ullswater to your well-earned café stop. This is a real treat, off road in a renovated barn! Fully revived, make your way around the technical track back to Patterdale.
