Description: The Wester Ross Trail is an unofficial long-distance hiking route across the Northwest Highlands with start and finish point in Inverness. The first trail leg follows the well-marked Great Glen Way to Drumnadrochit. Leaving Drumnadrochit the trail passes through Glen Urquhart, Glen Affric, Loch Mullardoch Hills, Glen Carron, Coulin Hills, Torridon, Diabaig, Redpoint, the Fisherfield Forest, the Fannichs, Strath Bran, Strath Conon and Muir of Ord. Much of the trail follows well-defined tracks, paths or country lanes. Some shorter legs go over off the beaten track terrain. In spate conditions some rivers may be impassable. Accommodation and provisions are available in Drumnadrochit, Glen Urquhart, Tomich, Strathcarron, Torridon, Poolewe and Muir of Ord. For further information, see http://www.westerrosstrail.com
