Trail: Caister - Ormesby - Caister (0)
Contributor: Haughtonk2011 Activity Type: Trail Running Difficulty: Average Distance: 6.913 mi (11.126 km)
Description: Good varied run, taking in fields, villages, some road running and beach. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ON THREE OCCASIONS YOU HAVE TO CROSS VERY BUSY ROADS. THIS RUN IS BEST DONE AT QUIETER TIMES OF THE DAY OR SUNDAYS. Start at Caister Coop and cross the road to take West Road to the left of the police station. Go all the way down West Road to the bypass and cross the footbridge and cross. Follow the road up the hill to West Caister and when you reach the crossroads at the top turn right. Follow this road downhill, passing Caister Castle on the left and follow it all the way to the roundabout at the junction of the A1064 and A149. This can be a very busy junction and you need to take great care as you turn left and follow the road for a few metres, crossing to take the track beside the toll cottage. This track runs parallel with the main Rollesby Road but there is a hedge between you and the traffic. At the end of the track you have to cross the road and go through farm gates on to a public footpath which leads to Ormesby. When you reach the Yarmouth road turn left until you come to the garage on your right. Take the road to the left of the garage (Station Road) and follow this to the Scratby Road. Again this is a very busy junction so cross with care and take the road straight ahead to California (California Road). Follow this road all the way to the beach. Turn right and follow the beach all the way back to Caister and Beach Road. Go up Beach Road back to the start.
