Trail: Casares Walks: Arroyo Zarabanda (0)
Contributor: simonwater41 Activity Type: Walking Difficulty: Average Distance: 3.416 mi (5.498 km)
Description: For a fuller description please see http://www.casares.es/es/Naturaleza/-_Rutas_de_Senderismo/Ruta_n__6_-_arroyo_zarabanda/. In contrast to most other Casares Walks, this route runs near to sealevel and is never far from the River Guadiero. It follows the Arroyo Zarabanda uphill and returns alongside the Arroyo de las Hoyas. The walk passes through abundant vegetation and many citrus orchards in the flood plain of the Guadiero. The start point is 19 kilometers (12 miles) from Casares. The road is narrow in parts and the road surface for the last few kilometers is unpaved. To get to this road, take the Manilva road and turn sharp right at N36 26 08.0 W5 17 30.7 (30 S 294666 4034901). The road descends to the riverside. Then follow the road to the GPS start point. A video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atCrjvg624o shows some aspects of the walk.
