Fishing Maps and Trails

In the world of angling, the best places to fish are called “swims”. Saying that, what exactly is it that turns an average lake or river into a decent swim? While expert anglers will know exactly what to look for, here are a few helpful tips for the beginner.

On Water - fishing

Fish prefer to stay out of sight of predators and so will take cover where there is pond weed, lily pads or any type of sunken debris. When fishing near vegetation, use heavier tackle as this will provide you with the strength you need to get the fish out of cover once it has taken the bait.

Underwater features such as shelves, bars and gravel patches also attract fish. To find them, you will need to look through some good fishing maps or use a marker rod to manually find these areas on your own. – Free maps, routes and trailz online.
